I have been listening alot to Beirut during the last week. The songs I like the most right now are “Nantes” and “My Night with the Prostitute From Marseille”, here they are.
Oh, and I´m hitting up Hintertux on saturday or sunday..! I can´t wait to get this season started!
I´m not starting a music blog, I´m just waiting for the winter!..
Over the course of a week I change my mind 1000 times on what my “Music Monday” is gonna be about. This week I considered alot of bands that I have been listening to lately, so you guys can follow me on the music aspect of my everyday life. I Listen to alot of music and even though it doesn´t tell you alot about me, it kinda does, hehe.
I haven´t Listened to Burns that much, but I have a few of his tracks, and they are pretty awesome. He came out with an EP not too long ago also, so the timing for this post fits kinda good. oh, and he is warming up for Canadian poster-boy DJ Deadmau5 on his North American Tour, so that is also a pretty big break I guess..?
Anyways… here is why I had to make this post – check it out.
I really like the idea of making music videoes out of old movies! (click on Thomas Bachellier for more)
The first movie is The Warriors – I played the video game called The Warriors last vinter, and I didn´t know it was based on a movie till I saw this clip, but I knew it was the same thing right away. I´m downloading the movie right now, cant wait to watch it! you can find it HERE
The second one is Urban Cowboy with John Travolta (obviously). I´m gonna watch that one too sometime soon. I have been searching for good old 1980´s movies to watch lately but I dont really know where to look, so if you have any suggestions you are more then welcome to help me out..?
Nothing creative about this post… It´s kinda late and I´m really tired after a 12 hour day at work.
The XX is the band I´ve listened to the must over the past week.
They just came out with an album. They are from England. They have the coolest band name I´ve heard in a while. I love how their two lead singers “complete” each other. It´s good music for this time of the year.. And I might use one of their songs in some way real soon (hint hint).
I´m starting up a “new series” of posts – and I´m calling it Music Mondays. Ironically enough I´m starting it today, on a wednesday, but whatever…
I got this idea straight out of The Post Family, but it fits in really well with one of my big interest – music – and the fact that I lack of things to write about, especially in the offseason.
First I´d like to say something that is really relevant to this post, and that´s why I love the timing of my birth and the places I´ve lived.
I love the fact that I was born in the middle of the 80´s (1986) because I grew up without internet and too much electronics – but started using it at around age 13, early enough for it to be a natural part of my life now. I had video games avaliable to me at around age 7, had an active childhood where I did sports every single day, and I started going to the mountain by myself at an really early age around age 7-8 if I´m not totally mistaking? Greenland is probably the reason why i was able to do this.
I feel like ALOT has happened and changed the way people live their lifes over the past couple of years, and I feel my age made it really easy to cope with it all. Do you remember how your cell-phone looked 5 years ago, or which cell-phone was your first? I do, and also remember what things were like before people got cell-phones. Kids 5 years younger then me probably don´t..? And I really appreciate knowing both sides of the ecuation.
I also remember my first CD and ghettoblaster. I got it for christmas. The CD was Ace of Base – Happy Nation and the blaster was a black sony with Radio, 1 CD player and 2 cassette players. I´m guessing kids now a days wont remember their first mp3 files, computer or cell-phone by the time they hit 20.
Another thing I love about growing up when I did was the cartoons my generation watched. I believe (correct me if I´m wrong) we grew up with more cartoon classics then any other generation before and after us, and this FINALLY brings me right into what I really wanted to share before en started babeling about my childhood…
Here are a few Disney movie songs I fell over to start things off – they are genius! The texts impress me alot now that I actually understand them!..
This is an ode to good music, good cartoons (which adults can actually watch) and everyone how grew up with these movies, and all the other great Disney Cartoons of the late 80´s and early 90´s.
I wasn’t going to, but now I’m gonna… one more music post, and then I’m gonna stop pretending I’m a music blogger…
Two words. Passion Pit… These guys are soo good you wouldn’t believe it if I told you – so there is only one thing you can do. Give them a listen.
I guess the music they make is “dreamy indie pop” or something like that… I don’t care, it’s awesome.
I have been listening to these guys for a while now, but wanted to keep them to myself – yes, that’s how selfish I am… nah, I just wanted to make an edit with one of their songs before everyone knew about them, but after today I couldn’t hold it back any longer. Passion Pit saved my day today, and you should have the opportunity to let them save your day… some day…
here’s a playlist to start you off… the download, google, eventual buy or whatever, I will leave up to you. Enjoy.
Oh, and be sure to listen the this music with either headphones or good speakers…
I Just heard about E-603, and guess what – he just released his new self released album “Torn Up” TODAY!..
He is a mashup artist so if you like music by “Girl Talk” this guy will rock your socks… E-603 is not a Girl Talk clone though – it’s more like start and stop at the perfect time, then mix mix go crazy…
Aaaand his album is free, or “pay if you want” which I’m a big fan of… plain awesome!
