When GM was done I finally had some time to go check out my home town. Its always fun to come home and check out the city. It is constantly growing and changing – new roads and entirely new neighborhoods and been build since the last time I have here 2 and a half years ago. Exciting!

Here is some random shots from around town (no photos from any of the new buildings)

The weather has been super unstable being either super good or super crap since easter – no more skiing in this year.

Myself, I´ve spend the last 2 weeks working out 2 times a day and I had my first skate session on the year yesterdays in 8 degrees Celsius – some greenlandic dude skated with no shirt on, thats hardcore.

Stay tuned for some hot blogging action.

Mayrhofen

I have now skied for 2 days since I got hurt 2.5 weeks ago – and I suck! Im trying to do the right thing and just ski around and do safe-tricks, but nothing feels safe right now. I´ve got a whole new setup; new skis, new clothes, inserts in my boots (so my banged up heel gets more support) and new mittens.

I´m not complaining about new stuff but everything just feels weird and now, because of the mittens, I also have to relearn “all” my grabs… I bought mittens to force myself into doing 4 finger grabs instead of 2 finger grabs.

Anyways… Im hanging out here in Mayrhofen with Nikolaj Jungersen and we are trying to get a few shots for RAD films next movie Double Up. We are just skiing the park here and thing are coming along slowly. The park here is really good and a lap only takes about 3 minutes so it wears me out pretty fast since I have just spend over 2 weeks in the bed healing my heel and knee. Im tired and confused so I´m going to cut this update short and post a few photos…

we need to get up earlier tomorrow!

Nikolaj is stoked - even when the cue is long...

Now you know what im gonna look like on the hill for the next couple of weeks

I hate the Austrian kitchen...

but I love my indoor tanning-spot!

later HJ PS: I dont know why the pictures have been turned, but I cant be asked to fix it right now.

Down day

Weather has been kinda weird the last couple of days and it has been kinda hard to ski to the level which I have been hoping to ski at by now.

After overshooting and undershooting jumps, and crashing in the lift-line (!) yesterday I decided to take the day off today, even though I did put my ski boots on and everything before taking the final decision.

Around noon Marius picked me up to go working. First we picked up some of the other guys in Breck, then worked out and then had some fun with the GoPro camera at the pool AND in the showers (wiit-wiiuu!)

I was about to upload some pictures, but then I decided not to! mohohohaha! Dont know if the GoPro footage is ever gonna surface either..?

Later,

Lazy-ass HJ

PS: this all happend yesterday

Great…

Day on the hill.

I had a lot of fun and skied pretty well… finally!

BUT then on one of my last runs of the day I landed backseat on a misty 7 and  ended up with a injury known as “Skier´s thumb” or torn Ulnar Collateral Ligament… GREAT!

it looks a little something like this:

In my case it looked like this:

As you can see from the scar in my hand I have operated form this injury before…

Last time it happend was 3-4 year ago and back then I operated right away. This time ill wait till summer – I dont want to wear a cask for 6-7 weeks in the middle of the season!

Right now my thumb is really swollen and sore, almost like it is sprained… the only difference is that I pretty much cant grab around anything!

So, for the next 5 months or so I wont be able to pincer grip of pinch anyone with my left hand. I am also gonna have a real hard time clipping the nails on my right hand, which is gonna suck.

… I the spirit of no pinching I give you this:

Anyways… I did my first couple of sw 10´s of the season today, and I plan on doing a lot more tomorrow. With of without a hurt thumb.

Good Night.

PS: I sure hope I wont be forced to ski without poles!

First day on the hill

Chris getting his hair cut

Just before I went up to the hill today I got my new camera in the door. I charged it for a little bit, and then I went up to breck. Unfortunately the battery didnt hold up in the cold temperatures here, so I didnt get any good on-hill shots…

Breckenridge is awesome! I was just getting to know the park, so I was taking it easy all day. I think I did about 100 360´s and a bunch of sw 5´s. Its gonna be awesome when we start getting used to speed and how the jumps are build – big difference from what I am used to!

When I got home I fooled around with the camera all night, to try and learn how it works… the shot above is my best shot of the day, I think.

I shot this image in honor of my sisters 26th birtday.

Tillykke AK!

What to do now?

Oslo – Amsterdam

Yesterdays trip went well! We were about 1 hour late out of Amsterdam which got me a bit stressed about about making me Minneapilos – Denver fligh, but I made it so it was all good.

What wasnt good though, was that my skibag with everything I need to ski (skis, clothes, boots etc.) didnt make it. The people at the airline dont even know where it is, so thats a bummer!

“good” thing is that the weather isnt too good, so Im not freaking out yet – lets hope it stays that way till i get my skis…

So yeah… today I just hung out in my condo and walked around Frisco. Boring!

What I did do, while doing nothing (?) was buy stuff online… I bought a GoPro HD cam and a new camera, a Canon S90. I decided on the s90 mostly because of the size. I would really love to have a 4/3 compact of a full on SLR but Im just not sure if I would bring it with me as much when I wouldnt be able to put it in any given pocket… and since I Knew I was getting the GoPro HD, the lack of HD video on the S90 shouldnt be mush needed.

I should get the s90 tomorrow and the GoPro cam in a couple of days, at least thats something do fool around with when I cant ski…

I ate chinese dinner with some of the HappyPro guys – they just got up here after having stayed in Denver one night to buy a car. Im not sure which car they got, but its a huge van and it was only 2500$ – crazy american car-prizes!

Its hard to read on the crappy photo, but it says “You shall attain great wisdom with each passing year”

pretty stoked on that, haha.
